Bathmen is een dorp in de gemeente Deventer, provincie Overijssel . Het inwonertal van de gemeente bedroeg 5328 in 2004 en de oppervlakte 26,48 km², waarvan 0,24 km² water.Tot de voormalige gemeente Bathmen behoorden naast het dorp Bathmen ook de dorpen en buurtschappen Apenhuizen, Dortherhoek, Loo, Pieriksmars en Zuidloo.GeschiedenisTot de gemeentelijke herindeling op 1 januari 2005 was Bathmen een zelfstandige gemeente, waarna het aan de gemeente Deventer werd toegevoegd. Hier was veel weerstand tegen, omdat Bathmen landelijk is en hierdoor onder stedelijk bestuur kwam. Men heeft getracht zelfstandig te blijven, of desnoods te mogen fuseren met de Gelderse gemeente Lochem. Maar het voorstel haalde het niet en Bathmen werd samengevoegd met Deventer.Bathmen ligt tussen de Schipbeek in het zuiden en de spoorlijn Deventer-Almelo in het noorden. Het dorp ligt aan de autosnelweg A1 en heeft een eigen afslag (25). Station Bathmen is sinds de jaren vijftig opgeheven. Er wordt overwogen dit station te heropenen.
